Most forgotten
What people forget to pack
The baby's passport
Babies need their own passport for international travel, and it can take weeks to arrive.
Something to suck at take-off
A bottle, a breastfeed or a dummy during take-off and landing helps with ear pressure.
A familiar sleep bag or toy
A known smell helps a baby sleep in a strange room.
Spare clothes for you
Spills happen. Keep a spare top for yourself in the nappy bag.
Questions
Travelling with a baby packing, answered
How many nappies should I pack?
Plan on about six a day for a young baby, plus a day of spares for delays. You can usually buy more at your destination.
Can I take baby milk through airport security?
Yes, baby milk, formula and baby food are usually allowed above the 100 ml limit in reasonable amounts. Expect them to be checked.
Can I take a stroller on the plane?
Most airlines let you check a stroller at the gate for free, so you can use it right up to boarding.
Does a baby need a passport?
Yes. Every traveller, including newborns, needs their own passport for international flights.
