Most forgotten
What people forget to pack for Bali
A sarong
Temples ask you to cover your legs, and a sarong doubles as a beach cover-up and a blanket on cool flights.
Insect repellent
Mosquitoes are around all year, especially at dusk and in the wet season. Bring a good repellent.
Stomach medicine
"Bali belly" is common for visitors. Pack your usual stomach remedy and oral rehydration salts.
A dry bag
Boat trips to Nusa Penida, sudden rain, wet swimsuits: a small dry bag keeps your phone safe.
Questions
Bali packing, answered
What is the best time to visit Bali?
The dry season runs roughly from April to October, with very few rainy days from July to September. The wet season, from November to March, brings short heavy downpours but greener landscapes.
What should I wear to temples in Bali?
Cover your shoulders and knees. Many temples lend or rent a sarong and sash, but bringing your own is easier.
Can you drink tap water in Bali?
No. Drink bottled or filtered water. Many cafes and hotels have refill stations, so a refillable bottle is still worth packing.
Do I need a power adapter for Bali?
Indonesia uses Type C and Type F plugs at 230V, like most of Europe. From the US, UK or Australia you need an adapter.
